Decisions, Decisions… Semester Project & Hosting
I have finally come to a decision! Well, kind of. For our semester projects I’ve got two ideas. Seeing as how Tim was discussing a lot about portfolios and such I was kind of under the impression that it’s what we were supposed to do? So, I’m perfectly okay with creating a more formalized portfolio do display my err…. accomplishments. But, on the other hand I’ve notice a number of other people discussing more creative ideas. For my alternative, (and more preferred option) I’d like to work on a clan website for a fleet that I want to form for the upcoming MMO Star Trek Online. Granted, it’s not really education focus, but it could still prove educational!
For my hosting solution I’ve chosen to go with GoDaddy.com. After a little research and comparison of all the options given by Tim, Casey, and Corey I’ve decided GoDaddy will fit my needs and situation a little better. I’ll obviously still need a domain name and I’ve got a list of them, but that will be finalized another day.
Nice, Sounds like a good idea, I’m still trying to decide what i want to do for my projects. I’ve got hosting down
Heads up for if you choose to do a clan site a lot of guilds/clans use http://www.guildportal.com so I recommend checking out the CMS they have put together. I don’t think it would be a good idea to use that CMS for class but make a dummy site and check out the features/widgets they have available that you could take ideas from to create your own features on the CMS you choose for class.
